The Flora Macdonald Memorial Fund.

The Flora Macdonald Memorial Fund, in addition to erecting the memorial plaque and cairn at the birthplace of Flora Macdonald at Milton, South Uist, provides educational prizes. In 1959 the first prize for Seniors was won by Flora Macdonald of Daliburgh. The first prize for Juniors was awarded to Joan MacAlister of Eriskay.

The Bard at the National Mod of An Comunn Gaidhealach in Dundee was Flora's father, Mr Donald Alan Macdonald. The poem, consisting of 13 eight-line verses, which gained for him this honour was Aiseirigh a' Bheachain - The Coming to Life of the Little Bee.
