Clan Donald Magazine No 4 (1968) Online

A Disreputable Anecdote.

About 1510, Angus Collach of Sleat was visiting North Uist with his tail, and they all attended divine service at St. Mary's where they met the wife of the absent Donald Macdonald of Balranald (and of Siol Gorrie). Angus invited himself to stay at Balranald and then invited his hostess to bed with him, but his hostess bolted and escaped to South Uist. Friends who sent a body of men under Donald MacRanald and collected more from Siol Gorrie on the way. In the ensuing fight Angus Collach was taken prisoner and 18 of his men were killed. Angus was sent to South Uist, tied in a sack and thrown in the sea. The corpse turned up at Carinish.

Gilleasbuig Dubh of Sleat later returned to North Uist and took terrible revenge on Siol Gorrie for the murder of Angus Collach.
